DiscoverUR (Sibley Music Library): Basic Search Functions

Search tips for using UR's discovery interface, DiscoverUR

Basic Search

Starting your search on the Sibley Library homepage begins with DiscoverUR. Each tab will search for something different. See below for additional information about what you can search.

Catalog

Search for books, e-books, scores, recordings, videos, and other items owned by the University of Rochester Libraries. When viewing search results, use the options to refine your search on the left to improve relevance or to expand your search. For the best user experience, sign into My Account on the search results page.

From the dropdown menu to the left of the search box you can choose to search all UR Libraries, or limit your search to just material owned by Sibley.

Scores

If you know you are looking only for musical scores, use this tab to pre-limit to that format.

Audio

If you know you are looking only for sound recordings owned by the library (CDs or LPs, excluding streamed audio), use this tab to pre-limit to that format.

Video

If you know you are looking only for video recordings owned by the library (DVDs or videotapes, excluding streamed video), use this tab to pre-limit to that format.

Books

If you know you are looking only for printed books about something, use this tab to pre-limit to that format.

Journal Titles

If you know the title of a particular journal and want to see if we subscribe (in paper or electronically), use this tab. Please note that this will not retrieve individual articles, just journals in their entirety.

Articles

If you want to search only for articles, start with this tab. Warning: this search will not retrieve every article that might be on your topic.
