Library of Congress Music Classification System: ML - Literature On Music

Sibley Music Library's score and book collections are organized according to the Library of Congress Music Classification System.

ML scheme

The ML scheme is for literature on music.

For instructional items, see the MT tab.

In Sibley, the vast majority of literature on music is located on the

3rd floor.

Exceptions are ML items on the Reference area (so desiginated in the library catalog) and the folio (i.e. oversized) books (see below). The table below will explain the classification ranges, with their locations within the library.
